When is the Right Time to Transplant a Japanese Maple Tree?
You can plant Japanese Maple any time of the year. We continuously prune and root-prune our Japanese Maples to make them transplantable any time. We prefer to move our large Japanese Maples when the trees are dormant - from December through March. We also have good results installing specimen trees May through November (excluding drought periods), however additional foliage protection, watering, and other work will be necessary.
